Food Prepartion Help
Food Preparation Help
Preparing a meal can be a very hectic process. Unfortunately, if you get into it unprepared, your meal preparations may produce undesired results. Prepare to prepare -- this is the easiest way to tackle this activity. It is quite simple.
For one, get all of your cooking utensils prior to cooking. Make sure you can easily get to them during the course of preparing the food. Sifting through pots, pans and utensils when you are in the middle of cooking can spread any germs you may have onto your otherwise clean dishes and utensils.
Measure all your ingredients before you begin cooking. This way, you can make accurate measurements of ingredients when you are at a relaxed pace.
Your workspace is also important. Be sure that you have plenty of preparation surfaces and containers for your recipes. If you are kneading dough, have plenty of arm and elbow space and make sure you clear the surrounding area. You do not want to accidentally spill any liquids while you knead. Avoid preparing your mashed potatoes in the same bowl in which you prepared the meatloaf. Prepare them in separate bowls instead.
Have antibacterial soap and hand cloths available so you can wash your hands during the cooking process. If you are preparing raw meats, you can spread germs and bacteria. Wash your hands after handling meat so that you do not spread the bacteria to the rest of the food you are preparing.
Buy cookbooks with coated covers and pages. Laminate your favorite recipes. If you constantly refer to them while cooking, the coating or lamination will prevent the paper from stains, spatters and drops. Spills, steam and moisture are always present in the kitchen.
Time is important in food preparation. Cooking something too long can lead to burning. Undercooked food is neither good nor healthy. Some recipes require careful and constant attention; some are specific as to how long you should stir, simmer or boil. Thus, put all your attention on cooking and making sure the food is cooked properly.
